    I heard that it can take anytime between 2-8 weeks and the H1B holder is not supposed to start working till they receive the SSN.

    H1B workers come to USA and start work immediately. It takes 2-3 weeks for SSN. For paying salary SSN is required, without which a company can't pay salary - but they pay advances.

    I remember myself getting advances, California drivers permit, Auto Insurance, etc. without SSN.

    I have submitted all the documents that are in the instructions documents. Some folks said the docs are not required for renewal, but it was too late.

    WOW! that would be great. All you have to do is fill out the application at http://s7.invisionfree.com/TGG_Team_Forum/ and you can go to http://s7.invisionfree.com/TGG_Team_Forum/ to register. Also if you don't check your email often, you should. Most communication is based on email and if you don't reply after some time your gone. (it's happened before!)

    Does it mean that the full case will be covered in 15 days or till the query is send if any... Hope i am being clear..
    What my concern is after the query is send and replied, still the 15 day limit stays or it loses that and goes back to the normal processing.

    Not sure what they do in the secondary inspection.. In my case they asked no questions at all.. Just asked me to sit and wait while they entered / checked something in their system. I was in and out within 20 mnts.


    What is the secondary inspection about? Is it just sitting and waiting while they do some checks on our file or do we have to answer some questions? Please let me know

    IMO, you should spend the money yourself instead of depending on the company for GC expenses...

    Why are you worried about the money? Go hire a lawyer and get your GC process started, asking your manager/HR just for the paperwork support. That way it is easier for you and easier for them too...IMO, Asking the company to bear the expenses for GC is too much, especially in this economy.

    As far as H1 is concerned, I guess you need to be in constant touch with your manager and press the issue till she talks to the immigration people and move from there. Talk to your supervisor and ask his help to move the paperwork faster. May be he/she can in turn talk to the HR person to speed things up, without the baloney you are hearing from HR. Also, talk to the lawyer and offer your HR manager that the lawyer can speak to her directly about the issue to speed up things...

    In the meantime, keep your options open and look for another job so that you can transfer your H1 and start fresh...Hopefully if this option works, don't make the mistake of waiting for HR to start your GC process...Just be proactive and do it on your own...

    Why are you giving illegal advice on the forum.
    GC and H1 is employer application and employer should pay for it. It is the law.

    I came back to US on Mar 30 2008 using advance parole. The officer wrote on I-94 , paroled until Mar 29, 2008 (I am assuming its an oversight).

    I didnt detect the oversight till yesterday. What my current status and what actions should I take to rectify the error.

    I am still working for my employer that sponsored the H1B which is valid till Feb 2009, although the stamp on the passport was valid only till Feb 2008

    For I-485 Applicant, it is not of much significance.
    At POE, AP is stamped for one year (with I-94), but when it expires, it does not matter. One can continue working on H1 or EAD. And if someone is in USA on H4 (and not working on EAD) also remains in vaild status.

    So there should not be any reason to worry, however, as suggested by "kshitijnt" better to get in touch with USCIS and let them do corrective action as required.

    Please post your experience afterwards.

    Hi randlesl, welcome to Dphoto! In addition to the above, some cameras are just calibrated to underexpose. My D60 did that consistently. I think I shot everything at +2/3 exposure comp. Some lenses may contribute to that as well. To test that, try taking a shot outdoors in good light using the same target with both lens set to 70mm and f/5.6. If they come out looking alike, all is well. If the 28-80 comes out darker, experiment to see how much extra you need to dial in with that lens to get it looking like the other. Also try a few shots with the 28-80 lens on a tripod, or other sturdy rest. If the images come out sharp, then the blur is like what I get ... operator error. If they are still blurry, then the problem may be with that lens. From what you said, though, and as jliechty suggested, it may be from trying to follow moving targets in low light with a shutter speed that can't freeze the action.

    Hi, this is my situation:

    - I have L2 Visa, because my husband has L1B Visa. This year, the visa expires and we have 3 new options: extension for L1 and L2 Visa, H1 and H4Visa or Green Card.
    - In the other hand, I have my own business. I have and EAD (work permit) and SSN.

    Questions:
    1. Which of the 3 options do you recommend us to get? Why?
    2. I understand that under H4, I am not able to get a work permit. Do I need a work permit to continue doing business by myself? Or it is required even to run my business?

    i think you should ask the same question to your lawyer with the same tone. you would get a huge bill seperately for your tone other than charging you for the answer.

    Sorry to hear about your dad's health.

    As per the Consulate web site, admitting to hospital is not an emergency situation. But you better check with TTS and Chennai consulate through email. If you have any proof from the hospital about your father's health condition, scan it and send it to consulate. they normally respond in 24 hours.

    If you applied for 485 and have AP, please keep it with you in case of need.

    Hi,

    I got the standard RFE
    1) End date in client letter
    2) EE relationship
    3) show project validity till h extension requested( 3 years)

    RFE response to be received on or before July 10 2010

    With all problems from vendor and client i was able to get letters but my lawyer sent the packet on July 9 and when I was tracking the status it says that UPS due to some unforeseen reason will now deliver this packet on 7/12 ..2 days after deadline, the packet has sent date 7/9 and was marked next day AIR

    My question is

    ) Am I screwed in this case and my H1 is gone. current H1 period expires 07/15
    2) Or will USCIS will accept the respnse since it was posted before on 7/9

    I am so mad at my lawyer but looks like H1 is gone and I have to pack my belongings ...

    any advice please
    I think, you can still work on H1 even though your current extension is pending

    Thank you so much for your response.

    So If I understand correctly I will have to staple the current I-94 (bottom part of I-797) from company C to my original I-94 in the passport i.e the I-94 I got at the time of entry (the one which has the company A info , I mean the type of visa , valid till etc.)

    What abt the I-94 from company B(the one which I have the copy of) . Does it need to be stapled too while I am leaving US ? If yes, can I staple the copy ?

    My Roommate had attended the HYD consulate on Dec 1st and he took tons of documents with him

    At the interview the officer asked to show

    Last 1 year paystubs
    Asked if he works for a client and had any middle vendor
    Client letter
    Vendor letter
    Agreements between vendor and employer (Asked if he had but did not ask to show)
    Asked if the employer started GC processing (He is in 7th year of H1)

    He got the stamp successfully.

    "You have to inform them of every small move even after citizenship is approved".

    If you can support your post by citing a valid source then its fine, otherwise stop shooting off your hips please.

    thanks, radhagd and md2003. yes, we've had a very long discussion about porting PD after two I-140 approved in this board. but seems nobody had this done successfully. So I wonder which way is worth to keep, EB3 with earlier PD (but my EB3 LC has not been started even recruiting processing yet) or EB2 in case I am already in 140 pending stage (in our company, to pursue EB3, I will have to cancel EB2)? any comments on this?
